Corporate Advice Team
Our team members are an integral part of our firm and our success. The team’s knowledge, experience, capabilities, skills, commitment and enthusiasm not only towards our firm but also to our clients are integral to our future success. MCA provides a personal service and our staff include Chartered Accountants, Certified Practising Accountants and a Registered Company Auditor.
Our support staff provide our clients and staff with essential administrative assistance. We have a good mix of youth and experience and keep ourselves up to date with the latest changes in technology.
A brief outline of our key professional staff qualifications and experience follows:
Laurence has been awarded a Fellowship by the Australian Chartered Accountants Board for his outstanding achievement and contribution to the profession of Accounting and the community.
Providing simplified solutions and strategies to assist with financial reporting and business growth together with understanding our client’s goals and needs is central to Laurence’s enjoyment of his work. Laurence is keen to utilise and make available his experience gained over more than 30 years working in the accounting industry including several years in a large second tier firm in Brisbane and The Australian National Audit Office in Canberra.
Born and educated in Mackay before moving south to further his studies and broaden his experience, Laurence returned to his home base in Mackay where he lives with his family. Laurence started his own business in 2008, He is a passionate advocate for the Mackay region and is aware of the need to provide local professional service to this region in order to maximise its potential.
Laurence has a number of sporting interests and is a member of several community non for profit committees. He was president of the Grapevine Group in Mackay for 9 years which is dedicated to raising awareness around suicide prevention and providing suicide prevention training.
Qualifications: Chartered Accountant Fellow/ Member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants/ Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA)/ Registered Self Managed Superannuation Fund Auditor/ Registered Tax Agent/ Registered Company Auditor
Von enjoys analysing business results and looking for improvements in systems and procedures. His responsibilities include preparing financial reports for large and small companies, incorporated associations and self-managed super funds. He also has vast experience in auditing a large variety of entities and has experience preparing income tax returns for business and individuals, BAS’s and other compliance reporting. Von enjoys working with people and is happy to apply his expertise and training to assist our clients.
Von has a great mix of skills initially gained while working in South Africa and honed over time including the last 14 years in Australia.
Von has a B.Compt (Hons) Degree and was registered as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa.
Anita is currently studying Cert IV Bookkeeping & Accounting, she is a Member of The Institute of Public Accountants and is certified with major accounting software companies including Reckon, Xero and Quickbooks.
Anita has over 30 years’ experience in bookkeeping, business administration, customer service and event management. Anita has exceptional organisational, communicational, and interpersonal skills. Anita is strong in adapting technology to improve business administrative processes. Anita has a passion for helping people and a positive and personable can-do attitude. In her spare time Anita enjoys spending time with her family and Cake Decorating
Maria has a Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping (Australia), and an Associate Degree in Business Administration (Dubai).
Maria is enthusiastic, self-motivated and quick learner. She has strong interpersonal and communication skills, good judgment and organizational skills. Maria brings a positive attitude to her tasks and enjoys applying technology to her work.
Zonia has a Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting at RMIT (Australia), Bachelor of Midwifery (Peru) and Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration (Taiwan). Zonia works on a part-time basis and helps the firm with accounts and bookkeeping. Her computer and organisational skills are essential to the continued smooth operation of our firm.
